Google Assignments in Schoology

Google Assignments allows co-teachers and I.As to have editing and grading access to Google-based assignments similar to co-teacher privileges in Google Classroom. 


Use the steps below to create a Google Assignment using new templates (Google Docs, Slides, Sheet) or attach a former Doc, Slide or Sheet from a previous Google Classroom within your Google Drive.

Creating a Google Assignment 


1) Click "Add Materials," then under the external tools, select "Google Assignments."




2) Switch to your @stjosephpinole.org account DO NOT USE @CSDO address. You need to connect your account Once per Course. Then click "Continue." You may need to allow Pop-Ups to appear within your browser.  To enable pop ups Click on the lock to the left of the address bar -> Enable Pop-ups and redirects-> then refresh your page. You only need to do this step ONCE. 


3) In the pop up window enter 

  • (Required) Setting the point value (Transfers to Schoology)
  • (Optional) Setting the due date (Does not transfer to Schoology)
  • (Optional) Adding a grading rubric
  • (Optional) Attaching assignment files to make a copy for each student to edit and submit
  • (Optional) Enabling originality reports (Only Google Docs & Google Slides)


4) Locate the created Google Assignment within Schoology and edit the settings to ensure the grades transfer. 

  • (Required) Check Max Points
  • (Optional) Due Date 
  • (Required) Change the Category
  • (Required) Change the Grade Scale
  • (Required) Check the Period to ensure it is in the right trimester
